Our projects
Our organization is involved in numerous projects eriam, eaque ipsa proident.
Education
SONGEI has implemented various literacy and numeracy projects for pre-education women since it existed. We have implemented literacy projects in all teaching women basic reading, writing and mathematics. In addition, we could also increase women’s awareness about their rights, responsibility, hygiene and other social ethic issues. The literacy program greatly contributed to improving women’s lives and made them responsible citizens and cooperative in their families and society. In fact, education opened their mind and expands their horizon. It enabled them to understand their duties as a citizen and encouraged them to follow their education for their life. Some of our literacy participants have greatly promoted and they got the membership of local Shuras. They have been involved in the decision-making process and greatly contributed to the development process of their community. Some of our literacy participants even joined the high school and they are proceeding well toward higher education.

Capacity building
SONGEI’s vision is to provide an environment for teachers to improve their knowledge and according to its assessment, there are many challenges in our basic education system undressed. The purpose of this workshop was to improve the capacity of science and mathematics teachers in primary school to facilitate the sessions more effectively and as the result, the students learn these subjects better
Livelihood
SONGEI has run several livelihood projects aimed at empowering the community economically through the implementation of vocational training, supporting income generation initiatives and building community linkage to the local and national market. Training provided in all sections to enable the local communities to practice better mechanisms in their income- generating activities. The toolkits were distributed to the participants to set up their businesses.
Peace Building
SONGEI has run several livelihood projects aimed at empowering the community economically through the implementation of vocational training, supporting income generation initiatives and building community linkage to the local and national market. Child protection
SONGEI started its initial activities in child protection and education for the orphan who lost their parents during the war and then extended their activities in the other section that children directly or indirectly affect. SONGEI commenced the first orphanage for the children by running primary and high schools for the orphan children in Herat supporting almost thousands of orphans. The component of child protection consists of Nutrition, Education, Entertainment, Accommodation, Transportation and Vocational Training
Gender and Human Rights
SONGEI has implemented several women empowerment and gender equity-related projects in the western region of Afghanistan. We have conducted legal rights awareness, and gender equity training for women in Herat provinces. We have also conducted human rights and gender workshops for mosque Imams and convinced them to deliver the workshop contents in their Friday speech “Khotbah” and warn people about violence against women. The workshops tackled women’s rights from an Islamic perspective that includes the right of choice, right of heritage, right of ownership etc. We appreciate the role of local imams in bringing positive changes in the women’s social and political situation. People accept the speeches of Imams and religious leaders this caused us to gain great achievements in this project and great change in women’s life.
